Default Moody Hill / Crystal Mountain 6.07.09

We needed to get out of the house and back up into the hills, with all the rain this year we were not sure how the trail conditions would be but a day on the trail is better than sitting in the house watching the rain. We decided to run up Moody Hill and then if things were looking good we would continue on up Crystal Mountain.

Turns out the sun was shinning in the hills! There are more wild flowers than I have ever seen this year, I guess the rain is good for some things...

At the top of Moody hill there is a fork in the road, to the left is Crystal Mountain to the right is quarry which is a fun a little playground

We goofed around for a while in the quarry...

The weather was holding so we decided to head up to Crystal Mountain...

I never realized how many aspens there are on this trail, I am going to have to come back in the fall...

There is another fun little playground at the bottom of Crystal Mnt so we goofed around again...

I managed to get hung up pretty good and my exhaust sounds a little funny now

So we decided we had enough fun on the big rocks and headed up the hill...

We had lunch and the clouds got darker, usaully from the top you can see ft Collins but there was too many coulds today. It turns out that it was raining and hailing down below while it was sunny up top.

Looks like a fun area to head to next summer. Can you hike it in winter?

I never have hiked it in the winter but I don't know why you couldn't, the road to the gate is open year round.
